Using linear propagation wave model, only swell observations that can be back-propagated to wave converging regions are considered. It is widely used by the different MFCs for assimilation into the numerical models and/or for validation.įor off-nadir measurements (SAR and SWIM), Level-3 SPC products are delivered along the swell tracks on an irregular space grid. They are flagged, inter-calibrated (i.e., wave measurements biases are consistent for the different altimeters) and noise-filtered with a method developed by IFREMER experts (Quilfen et al. Multi-Year altimeter product is derived from external ESA CCI+ Sea State project and CNES.įor altimeters, Level-3 SWH products are delivered along the tracks of the different altimeters. The NRT wave multi-mission and multi-sensor processing is developed by CLS and CNES using altimeter, SAR and CFOSAT/SWIM data. These products are delivered in Near Real-Time (NRT, 3h) and in Delayed Time (Multi-Year) to be used by both internal (MFCs) and external Copernicus Marine Service users. They provide wave parameters across the global ocean, such as significant wave height (SWH) and ocean wave spectra (SPC) as well as their integrated parameters (direction, wavelength and swell/wind wave discrimination). The WAVE-TAC oversees the production of wave products derived from nadir altimetry, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR: Sentinel-1) and the off-nadir wave measurements, provided by CFOSAT mission and SWIM instrument, dedicated to wave characterisation. The Wave Thematic Assembly Center (WAVE-TAC) is in charge of providing satellite wave observation data.
